Mapei solutions on show at Domotex 2020

Mapei, one of the world’s leading producers of adhesives and chemical products for the building industry, is taking part at Domotex (Hannover from 10^th to 13^th January 2020) and, apart from its well-known range of solutions for installing LVT, is presenting its latest proposals for textile floor and wall coverings, wallpaper, decorative fiberglass and wooden flooring (Hall 13, Stand C48).

Apart from featuring the latest products and solutions for installing floor and wall coverings, there will be a wealth of information available about Mapei’s commitment to sustainability.

Mapei has always taken particular interest in the environment and the wellbeing of those who use its products and adopts ethical practices to help promote and encourage product, process and social sustainability.

Mapei develops products and solutions that have a low impact on the environment and chart the effect they have during their entire life cycle by applying LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) methods and documenting the results with EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations).

And, thanks to this commitment, products proposed by Mapei enable eco-sustainable projects to be developed in compliance with the most important and widely adopted eco-sustainable building protocols, such as LEED and BREEAM.

Most of its adhesives have very low emission of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and are certified BLAUER ENGEL (the German Ecolabel), EMICODE EC1^PLUS (GEV) and M1 (Building Information Foundation RTS); all with water-based formulations so they give off very little odour in closed environments according to ISO 16000:28.

Mapei consolidates its presence on the wall and floor covering installation market at Domotex by introducing the new TX and DECOR lines, which are used to install textile floor and wall coverings, wallpaper and decorative fiberglass and are suitable for any room in our homes.

TX Line

For installing rolls of carpet Mapei proposes the following adhesives:

- ULTRABOND ECO^® TX3 excellent wet grab “premium” adhesive with early build up of strength for textile and linoleum floorings.

- ULTRABOND ECO^® TX2 “professional” adhesive with high initial grab and long open time for textile floorings.

- ULTRABOND ECO^® TX1 “standard” hard setadhesive for textile and linoleum floorings.

- ULTRABOND^® TX57 high and fast initial grab adhesive for installing textile and linoleum floorings. Particularly recommended for use in cold weather and on sites with insufficient heating.

For the installation of loose-lay carpet tiles Mapei proposes ULTRABOND ECO^® TACK TX +, an acrylic-based adhesive designed to provide a permanently tacky film when dry, to allow the removal and replacement of carpet tiles when required, onto all kinds of standard substrates, smoothing

compounds, existing floor coverings and raised access floor panels. Also suitable for fixing carpet pads.

DECOR Line

For the wallpaper and decorative fiberglass sector, Mapei proposes various solutions for the latest trend of using decorative fiberglass and vinyl wallpaper, not only in dry surroundings, but also in damp surroundings and showers.

To install these materials in dry surroundings Mapei proposes ULTRABOND ECO^® DECOR DRY, a ready-to-use adhesive with very low emission of VOC for bonding wallpaper and decorative fiberglass on absorbent substrates.

And to install them in damp surroundings Mapei proposes ULTRABOND ECO^® DECOR WET, a one-component, silylated polymer-based adhesive for bonding decorative fiberglass and wallpaper, including on non-absorbent substrates.

And lastly, MAPECOAT^® DECOR PROTECTION protective, aliphatic polyurethane finish in conjunction with ULTRABOND ECO^® DECOR WET provides a complete, safe system for installing decorative fiberglass and vinyl wallpaper with non woven fabric backing, even inside shower cabins. Particularly recommended also to make it easier to clean fiberglass wall coverings and printed wallpaper and to protect these types of wall covering from UV rays and help prevent them from fading.

NEW DIMENSIONS IN WOODEN FLOORING

For those operating in the wooden sector Mapei is presenting their new line of products for finishing and protecting wood.

ULTRACOAT is Mapei’s proposal to provide the maximum protection possible for wood and at the same time safeguard the environment, thanks to its very low emission of VOC, and the wellbeing of floor installers and end users, thanks to its special water-based, hazard-free formulation.

This line includes a range of varnishes and oils that provide a high level of protection for wooden floors in both private residential buildings and in shops and bars open to the general public, including those exposed to intense pedestrian traffic.

These products are specially formulated for easier use and application by floor installers and to offer the best performance properties.

At Domotex Mapei is also proposing:

- ULTRACOAT MT 2K, a water-based, acrylic-polyurethane varnish for wooden floors to provide high resistance to wear and abrasion for floors exposed to medium levels of pedestrian traffic; two versions are available, Matt or Satin finish.

- ULTRACOAT HT 2K, a water-based, 100% aliphatic polyurethane varnish for wooden floors with a high level of resistance to wear and abrasion, for floors exposed to extreme levels of pedestrian traffic in commercial surroundings; available in the versions 0 gloss, 10 gloss, 30 gloss and 60 gloss.

- ULTRACOT HT A-S, a water-based polyurethane varnish with a class R9 non-slip finish for wooden floors in areas used by the general public; available in the versions 0 gloss, 10 gloss and 30 gloss.

- ULTRACOAT HARD OIL FAST, an impregnating oil for finishing off wooden floors; available either in neutral or various different shades.

Apart from the solutions for protecting wood, Mapei is also bringing to Domotex a range of solutions to help with their care and maintenance:

- ULTRACOAT POLISH A-S, a ready-to-use, natural product with a non-slip finish to protect wooden floors.

- ULTRACOAT POLISH H-T, to protect wooden floors from wear and stains.

And lastly, for the installation of wood, Mapei is proposing ULTRABOND ECO S LITE, the innovative one-component, silylated polymer-based adhesive with Ultralite Technology: this means a bag of ULTRABOND ECO S LITE weighs less than the same volume of traditional adhesive. Thanks to its lower density it is easier to handle, transport costs are lower and it has a higher yield, which translates into lower consumption per square metre. This adhesive has very low emission of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and is certified EMICODE EC 1^PLUS.

And last but not least, ULTRABOND ECO S LITE is also completely solvent-free.

MAPEI 4 LVT

Thanks to Mapei’s extensive experience in installation systems for floor and wall coverings, it is also proposing a range of high performance products for safer and longer-lasting installation of LVT, SPC and rigid LVT, materials which have become increasingly popular with designers and architects thanks to their excellent performance properties and ease of installation and maintenance, not to mention their availability in a wide range of finishes that reproduce the effect of many other types of floor and wall coverings often used in residential and commercial buildings and in the hotel sector.

Depending on the type of material to be installed, Mapei proposes a range of cutting-edge, specific product systems.

Such as ULTRABOND^® ECO 4 LVT adhesive, developed specifically for installing LVT, to guarantee the maximum level in terms of adhesion, peel, shear strength and dimensional stability.

Or, for a non-slip bond for loose-lay LVT, Mapei proposes the “pressure-sensitive” adhesive ULTRABOND^® ECO TACK 4 LVT, which means planks and tiles can be removed and then repositioned with ease.

And to round off, Mapei has made quite an impression for their development of SHOWER SYSTEM 4 LVT^{1, 2, 3}, three different systems for waterproofing and installing LVT and SPC in damp surroundings and showers cabins, which are made up of various waterproofing solutions (sheets, liquid membranes and cementitious mortars) and ULTRABOND^® ECO MS 4 LVT WALL one-component, silylated polymer-based reactive adhesive characterised by its excellent mechanical properties, non-slip properties and its high resistance to water, KERAPOXY^® 4 LVT grouting mortar and MAPECOAT^® 4 LVT non-slip finish, with slip resistance properties up to class R11 (DIN 51130) and A+B (DIN 51097).
