A family business on an international scale

Mapei, which was founded in 1937, is based in Milan, the city where it came into being and made its mark on the market for chemical products for the building industry, notably for its adhesives for ceramics.

Now, with revenue of approximately €760 million, the Group operates all over Italy through 10 companies equating to a total of 11 factories, 6 Research & Development centres and 2,557 staff.

Veronica and Marco, the third generation of the Squinzi family, are continuing the family tradition by heading the company as CEOs of the Group and its Italian organisation.

The heart of the Group

Mapei is the Group’s leading company in Italy with 11 offices and 1,500 staff.

In addition to its old headquarters in Via Cafiero, now its Corporate Resarch Centre, the Group’s main Research & Development laboratory coordinating the operations of 30 other laboratories worldwide, Milan is also the home of the management-administration offices, product development units, Specification Centre, a place for designers and other professionals in the industry to meet and interact, and the main offices of the Technical Assistance service, which is widely admired by people working in the industry.

Extensive Operations

Robbiano di Mediglia in the province of Milan, is the location of the Mapei’s biggest production plant (660 staff) manufacturing chemical products for the building industry in powder, liquid and paste form, including adhesives, sealing agents, additives, plasticizers, water paints and smoothing/levelling agents.

There are other important manufacturing plants in Latina focused on the manufacture of products in powder form and colouring processes for water paints using a tintometric system, and in San Cesario sul Panaro (Modena), which specialises in fibres for fibre-reinforced products and accommodates another R&D laboratory. Sassuolo, on the other hand, is the home of the logistics centre for distributing Mapei products all over Italy.

Mapei has technical-business offices and showrooms in Roma, Pisa, Lecce, Sassuolo e Civitanova Marche (Macerata) to coordinate relations with its own customers and provide on-site assistance and consultancy all over Italy.
